I recommend this trip for all ages! So fun! Went off-shore fishing with my family (ages 11 to 60) with Captain Logan (see pic). We were 17 miles out from Cocoa Beach. First of all, Logan put out a net and caught a bunch of little fish that we could use as bait. They have a big cooler of Atlantic ocean water for them to swim around in until needed. We came upon a group of dolphins, perhaps around 6 to 10 all around the boat, and Logan stopped the boat so that we could get pictures to our heart’s content. The boat only teetered once back-and-forth for about eight seconds, when we got parallel to another boat’s waves. (It was fun!) Once we got about 17 miles out, Logan put the bait fish on two poles, and then we waited. The first fish was caught within the first three minutes. The rest were spaced out about every 10 or 15 minutes. We all got to reel in a good size fish, but let me tell you, even with only a 2 1/2 or 3 foot long fish, it takes a lot of effort to reel in! It could take five or 10 minutes! And when someone gets too tired to keep reeling, we would hand it off to someone else who wanted to do the reeling for a little while. Our trip started at 6:20 am, so we got to see a nice sunrise! I think we got back between noon and 1 PM, and then Logan filleted the fish for us, and we took about 4 pounds of mahi over to a nearby restaurant, Grills Seafood Deck, and for about $10 per person, they cooked the fish for us, and served it to us as tacos. They will make it up, however you want. It tasted great! This fishing trip was the highlight of our trip to Florida! We caught mahi, barracuda, and kingfish, and nearly caught a shark and a sailfish. Keep your eyes out for how colorful they are in the water, versus how quickly they turn to yellow once they get in the cooler of ice. They also provide a huge cooler of ice for you to put your lunch and drinks in. You can bring backpacks and put them down in the hold, where the little bathroom is.

We were booked for deep sea fishing but the swells were too big so Captain Logan switched it up to a shark excursion instead. Caught some sharks and had some big ones on the line that gave us a fight. It was a great time! Logan was helpful, knowledgeable, flexible, very professional and great to talk to and get to know.
My wife booked us the tour and said that Debra is great to work with and very helpful. She also talked to Captain Chris and he was very helpful too!
Overall an incredible experience! Very professional and friendly staff. Would highly recommend them! Definitely booking with them again when we come back to Coca Beach!

We were booked for deep sea fishing but the swells were too big so Captain Logan switched it up to a shark excursion instead. Caught some sharks and had some big ones on the line that gave us a fight. It was a great time! Logan was helpful, knowledgeable, flexible, very professional and great to talk to and get to know.
My wife booked us the tour and said that Debra is great to work with and very helpful. She also talked to Captain Chris and he was very helpful too!

The most meaningful part of the day for me was how he treated my 80-year-old dad. From the moment we stepped aboard, Joe called him "Dad" and treated him like royalty, making sure he was comfortable, involved, and enjoying every minute. That kindness meant more to us than words can express.
Joe's awareness was incredible. At one point, my dad started getting seasick. Before anyone else even realized what was happening, Joe had a bucket in his hands. He somehow heard it coming while still watching the rods, the water, and everything else happening around the boat. That level of attentiveness says everything about the kind of captain he is.
When you're spending a full day on a boat with someone, you want a captain who is knowledgeable, safe, patient, and enjoyable to be around. Joe checked every box. He kept us laughing, taught us along the way, and was always thinking several steps ahead. He pointed out sea turtles, expertly kept sharks from stealing fish off our lines with quick thinking and boat positioning, and somehow managed to keep everyone engaged the entire trip.
And yes, we caught fish! Lots of them. We landed 10 keeper mackerel, fought and landed a shark, and filled the cooler with an incredible catch even when other boats in the area were getting skunked. At the end of the day, Joe cleaned every fish perfectly, making it easy for us to enjoy our catch later.
One more thing. If you hear Captain Joe yell, "Dammit, Tom!" don't think he's being rude. It became the running joke of our trip and had all of us laughing every time. By the end of the day, it had become such an inside joke that my husband, Tom, is seriously considering naming our future boat Dammit Tom.
The sunrise, the cruise ships heading out to sea, the wildlife, the excitement of the fights, and sharing it all with great friends made this far more than a fishing trip. It became a core memory we'll never forget.
Captain Joe is the kind of guide who combines incredible fishing skills with genuine hospitality, quick thinking, humor, and heart. We can't recommend Fired Up Fishing Charter highly enough, and we'll absolutely be back!
